SEA Games - Sugianto "Ho Ho" Setiawan Pembawa Merah Putih

Nakhon Ratchasima (ANTARA News) - Pembalap sepeda gunung Sugianto Setiawan yang akrab dipanggil "Ho Ho" akhirnya mendapat kepercayaan sebagai pembawa bendera Merah Putih pada acara pembukaan SEA Games 2007 yang berlangsung di Stadion Peringatan Ulangtahun ke-80 Raja di Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, Kamis.
Keputusan dipilihnya pembalap asal Malang itu baru diambil tengah malam karena saat upacara pengibaran bendera di perkampungan atlet, Rabu sore, chef de mission (CDM) kontingen Indonesia Achmad Sucipto mengatakan bahwa yang menjadi pembawa bendera kemungkinan besar berasal dari cabang bola basket atau bola voli putra.
Ho Ho memang dianggap pantas mendapatkan kepercayaan tersebut karena merupakan salah satu atlet paling berprestasi di antara 500 lebih atlet yang dikirim ke SEA Games 2007 kali ini.
Empat medali emas sudah diraihnya di SEA Games, mulai 1997 di Jakarta, 2001 di Kuala Lumpur, 2003 di Hanoi dan 2005 di Manila. Di tingkat Asia, ia juga pernah menjadi yang terbaik di kejuaraan Asia pada 2005.
Namun di SEA Games 2007, Ho Ho yang meski masuk dalam daftar atlet sepeda gunung Indonesia, tidak diturunkan dengan alasan tidak dalam kondisi terbaik.
Barangkali kondisi tersebut menjadi berkah baginya karena ia dipercaya menjadi pembawa bendera Merah Putih pada upacara pembukaan dan kepercayaan tersebut merupakan impian bagi para atlet.
Pembawa bendera merupakan atlet yang paling berprestasi di dalam kontingen negara masing-masing. Thailand akan diwakili oleh nama terkenal dalam cabang bulutangkis, yaitu Boonsak Ponsana.

Emas Masih Menjauh, Popo Raih Perak Balap Sepeda SEA Games
Nakhon Ratchasima (ANTARA News) - Meski sebagian cabang olahraga sudah mempertandingkan nomor final, medali emas masih menjauh dari kontingen Indonesia.
Atlet sepeda gunung (downhill) Popo Ariyo Sejati, harus puas sebagai penyumbang medali perak pertama untuk kontingen Indonesia di SEA Games 2007 di Nakhon Ratchasima, Kamis.
Popo yang pada babak penyisihan sehari sebelumnya menempati urutan ketiga, mencatat waktu tiga menit 59,380 detik, terpaut 2,460 detik dari atlet Filipina, Joey Barba yang meraih emas (3:56,920).
Emas yang diraih Joey merupakan emas pertama bagi kontingen Filipina, juara umum di SEA Games 2005 lalu.
Sementara itu, atlet tuan rumah Thailand Sitichai Ketkaewmanee harus puas dengan medali perunggu dengan waktu 4:00,860 detik.
Atlet Indonesia lainnya Purnomo, berada di peringkat keenam (4:09,800) dari total delapan peserta. Hasil tersebut lebih baik dari urutan keenam babak
penyisihan.
Usai pertandingan yang berlangsung di luar kota Nakhon Ratchasima yang ditempuh dalam waktu 1,5 jam itu, Popo tidak bisa menyembunyikan kekecewaannya.
Popo bertanding dengan rasa percaya diri cukup besar karena ia berhasil menempati posisi runner-up di Kejuaraan Asia di China menjelang SEA Games 2007.
"Lawan-lawan yang saya hadapi di sini berhasil saya kalahkan di kejuaraan Asia. Tapi saya akui Joey kali ini tampil lebih baik," katanya, dengan sikap sportif.
Popo juga mengakui bahwa saat bertanding menuruni lintasan berjarak 1,9km itu, ia sempat menemui kendala saat di lintasan berbatu yang cukup berpengaruh terhadap laju sepedanya.
Kekecewaan juga tampak dari wajah pelatih Sugeng Tri Hartono karena Popo memang menjadi tumpuan untuk merebut salah satu dari target dua emas dari sepeda lintas alam (cross country).
"Satu target kita sudah meleset karena dari hasil di kejuaraan Asia, Popo memang berpeluang besar mencapai target," kata Sugeng yang dikenal ramah kepada wartawan itu.
Harapan berikut cabang sepeda ada dalam nomor cross country, di pundak juara bertahan Dadi Nurcahyadi yang didukung oleh Chandra Rafsanjani dan Ali Usman.
"Saingan terberat Indonesia tetap tuan rumah Thailand dan Filipina. Kita harapkan Chandra dan Ali Usman bisa menjadi pengganjal untuk memuluskan jalan Dadi," kata Sugeng.
Di SEA Games Manila 2005 lalu, nomor sepeda gunung Indonesia meraih dua emas melalui Dadi Nurcahyadi di nomor cross cuntry dan Sugianto "Ho Ho" Setyawan di nomor downhill.
Secara keseluruhan, cabang balap sepeda Indonesia harus merebut empat emas, tiga perak dan tiga perunggu untuk menjadi juara umum.
Dua emas lain disumbangkan oleh Uyun Muzizah (27km Individual Time Trial) dan Sama`i (individual criterium).

I was aware I was crashing, but not much else.

Lehikoinen Injury - Update 3

As the first sign of snow starts to arrive in Finland, and 23 days after his serious crash, Matti Lehikoinen is making excellent progress. After a series of weekly x-rays, the doctors have said all is looking very positive and the vertebrae are well stabilized. There is a small compression in one of them, but this is inoperable and not serious in nature.
Matti is walking around the house and has basic mobility, and is able to stand up for 30 minutes at a time without problem, and is now only taking pain killers at night to help sleep. This is a pretty impressive recovery rate to this point and a great relief to all of his family and friends.
Today Matti was interviewed by Finnish TV, and together with the leading newspaper in Helsinki, his story has become one of national media interest as he continues to progress with great positivity.
Also released today are the first photos of his accident. We have agreed with Matti to post these on the 23 Degrees web site, not for any shock value, but to give a better understanding of how this accident happened. There are also photos of his Lazer helmet showing the important role it played in preserving Matti's head.
"I really feel the difference every day. Last Sunday was probably one of my worst days, fighting the boredom and also trying to kick the pain killers, but since then, each day I have felt the progress. For example, today is the first day I have been able to cough without severe pain. And as for sneezing, I have sneezed twice since the accident and you just don't wanna know what that was like. Normally you never remember sneezing, but those two bastards will stay with me forever. I will start working with my new Intense team on projects for next year which will help the time fly by," said Matti today from home as the forecast shows snow as the forecast shows snow arriving Friday, and the start of the long Nordic winter and a recovery that Matti hopes will see him back at World Cup 1, next May in Maribor, picking up where he left off.

23 hari setelah mengalami kecelekaan serius, Matti Lehikoinen sudah mengalami kemajuan yang sangat baik. Setelah setiap minggu dironsen, dokter mengatakan semua terlihat sangat positif dan tulang belakangnya sudah stabil dengan baik. Ada sedikit tekanan pada satu bagiannya tapi hal ini bisa dioperasi dan tidak serius.
Matti berjalan disekeliling rumah dan bisa mengerjakan hal sederhana, dan mampu untuk berdiri selama 30 menit tanpa masalah, dan sekarang minum penahan sakit di malam hari untuk membantu tidur. Keseembuhan ini sangat impresif dan merupakan hal yang melegakan untuk keluarga dan teman-teman.
Hari ini Matti diinterviu oleh tv finlandia dan bersamaan dengan berita di koran utama Helsinki ceritanya telah menjadi perhatian media dan dia terus maju dengan sangat positif.
Juga diluncurkan hari ini untuk pertama kalinya foto-foto dari kecelakaannya. 23 hari setelah mengalami kecelekaan serius, Matti Lehikoinen sudah mengalami kemajuan yang sangat baik. Setelah setiap minggu dironsen, dokter mengatakan semua terlihat sangat positif dan tulang belakangnya sudah stabil dengan baik. Ada sedikit tekanan pada satu bagiannya tapi hal ini bisa dioperasi dan tidak serius.
Matti berjalan disekeliling rumah dan bisa mengerjakan hal sederhana, dan mampu untuk berdiri selama 30 menit tanpa masalah, dan sekarang minum penahan sakit di malam hari untuk membantu tidur. Keseembuhan ini sangat impresif dan merupakan hal yang melegakan untuk keluarga dan teman-teman.
Hari ini Matti diinterviu oleh tv finlandia dan bersamaan dengan berita di koran utama Helsinki ceritanya telah menjadi perhatian media dan dia terus maju dengan sangat positif.
Juga diluncurkan hari ini untuk pertama kalinya foto-foto dari kecelakaannya. Kami dan Matti menyetujui bahwa dengan memasang ini di website 23 degrees tidak dimaksudkan untuk menghebohkan, tapi untuk memberi pemahaman bagaimana kecelakaan ini terjadi. “Saya merasakan perbedaan setiap hari. Minggu kemarin barangkali hari terburuk saya, memerangi rasa bosan dan juga berusaha untuk tidak meminum pain killer, tapi setelah itu setiap hari saya merasakan kemajuan. Contohnya ini hari pertama saya bisa batuk tanpa rasa sakit. Juga bersin, saya baru bersin dua kali sejak kecelakaan . Biasanya kamu tidak akan ingat bersin tapi yang dua itu bakalan saya ingat selamanya. Saya bakal mulai bekerja dengan tim Intense baru dalam proyek tahun depan yang sangat membantu saya menghabiskan waktu” kata Matti dari rumahnya sementara ramalan cuaca memperlihatkan salju yang baru turun hari ini, dimulainya winter panjang di Nordic.

"Infectious enthusiasm and agility for all-round fun"

It has the same name and same 120mm of rear travel as the 2007 EX, but otherwise the '08 model is a totally new beast. It's smoother, tighter and adds greater substance to its already proven, playful persona.
Chassis: Angular looks, plenty of mud clearance
The angular egg-timer head tube and trapezoid cross-section tubes add a neat geometric edge to the look of the bike. Trek has given a real edge to the ride, too, with a stiffer 'Evo' rocker linkage removing the 'articulated' aspect of older EXs.
You may have seen the adverts about the new suspension setup. 'ABP' (Advanced Braking Pivot) puts the seat stay/chainstay pivot concentric with the rear axle to minimise brake movement as the suspension moves. 'Full Floater' sits the lower end of the shock on forward extensions of the chainstay, effectively moving it away from the top rocker as it tries to compress it.
It's got a British amount of mud space, too, and the whole bike is open and easy to work on. A new 18.5in size closes the awkward 17.5in to 19.5in gap.
Ride: Light and tight, but back end creaked by end of test
The new EX has shorter stems than its predecessor. This gives a light and eager steering feel that meshes perfectly with the bike's playful character. It's just one of those bikes that's great to hop, pop and skip all over the trail.
The new suspension has a much smoother and more capable mid-stroke feel, with no trace of harsh bottom-out off big stuff. This means you can squat it into corners and fire it out again, and it rolls through square-edged stoppers far better than it used to. There's a bit of 'sting' at the start of high-speed shock loads such as big flat landings, but the payback is a pert pedalling feel that makes the Pro pedal shock lever pretty much redundant.
Overall feel is definitely far tighter than before, with much better tracking precision on off-camber or cross-thread trail sections. There's still a slight tendency for the heavily asymmetric rear end to twang left under power, though, and the back end was starting to creak noticeably by the end of the test. Despite having an extra 10mm of fork travel when compared to some direct competitor bikes, it still felt more cross-country than all-mountain on more challenging descents, too.
Equipment: value plus function
Fox's new damping guts are a big factor in the massive control offered by this type of bike, and the Trek's rear setup showcases them well. The tubeless-ready Bontrager wheels and tyres make it easy to remove weight and add extra suppleness to the ride.
XT/LX kit represents impressive value and function, while the Bontrager Race gear is all good. The saddle was certainly one of the comfiest we've tested, and the seat post now seems to stay in place without titanic torque. The Avid brakes have more than ample power, too.
Summary
Everyone who rode the Trek absolutely loved it for its get-on-and-go enthusiasm and agility. The new suspension has impressive smoothness, the bike ticks all the practicality boxes, kit levels are excellent and there's real potential for a lightweight upgrade. If you're after addictive all-round fun, the EX has to be on your shortlist.
